Olera delivers the best!

It’s always a happy day when our local farming partners at Olera call. We’ve got their delicious valley mix salad mix and the most lovely and tasty raspberries.

We have a long relationship with the Reid family who, along with their many siblings, have pioneered organic certification and farming practices here in BC.

These are wonderful people who do wonderful things for our community and the environment.

Next week we expect more from the farm including:

– piccalino cucumbers

– broccolini

-heirloom tomatoes

– cabbage

-green onion

The one coffee we love the most

We’ve tried so many coffees over the years – from all around the world and from so many types of farms, it’s almost enough to make our sleep-deprived heads spin.

Coffee beans
Coffee beans

However, one of our favourites is roasted close by, in Powell River, BC, by 32 Lakes. This coffee is robust but not bitter, aromatic but not overly laden with non-coffee overtones. Plus, the people behind 32 Lakes are especially wonderful – what’s not to like?

Check out the coffee in-store, or online. And, if you want to learn more, check out what Nicole has to say about it here:

A delicious treat

I really never made artichokes till a couple of years ago. How easy they are!

Trim the bottom so it can sit flat in a steamer, remove the first 1 or two rows of leaves and trim the tops of all the leaves.

I steam them for around 20 minutes and dip them in a butter/garlic dip. It is our daughters favorite treat (and we love them too).
